MSE - can Vir-sig updates be scheduled manually?

Post by audwan »

Hi people!

Does the latest version of MSE allow a manual update schedule to be created by the user or is it still limited to the Windows auto-update facility, which may also download & install unwanted MS apps along with the virus signatures?

Cheers.

Hi audwan,
You can't directly schedule an update within MSE, but there is a workaround without involving Windows Update.

First off, there is a way of updating MSE definitions by command line. Here is a link that shows how to do that:

Then, the trick is using the Task Scheduler and put that command line as a new task, and give any schedule you want.
